Scotish Boxing Report

A TINY village boxing club is spawning champions.

Doon Valley’s Rhys Pagan won the youths 60 kilos category at the Great Britain Championships at Portobello to add to the Scottish title he won earlier.

And fellow Scottish champion Martin McCord won British silver in the youths 56 kilos category. Also winning a Scots title was David Burrell while Calvin McCord won British schoolboy silver at 32 kilos.

Secretary Jimmy Smith, of the Dalmellington based club, said: “It’s fantastic to have a British champion considering we have only been going five years. We’ve had West of Scotland champions every year. If these boys stick at it, they will have a great chance.”
