The family of Doncaster boxer Jason ‘The Rocket’ Rushton have been told his condition is improving after he suffered a brain injury during a bout.

The 26-year-old’s family and partner Nadia Jennings, who is pregnant with their second child, spent the weekend in limbo after he had an operation to relieve pressure on his brain and was put in a “drug-induced coma“.

The light-middleweight was rushed to hospital after being stopped in the 10th and final round of a Central Area title fight against Brian Rose in Bolton on Friday.

A family friend today said his condition had improved considerably. Well-wishers have posted dozens of messages of support on a Facebook group dedicated to the fighter. read more at The Star Yorkshire
