Enzo Maccarinelli is to face Alexander Kotlobay, not Alexander Frenkel, for the vacant European cruiserweight title in St.Petersburg on 27 April.
The European Boxing Union’s website incorrectly listed Maccarinelli against Frenkel when in fact it is the winner of Maccarinelli-Kotlobay who must defend the European crown against Frenkel next.
29-year-old Russian Kotlobay has won 18 of his 20 contests (12 via KO). His solitary career loss came against Anders Hugger on points over six-rounds in 2006.
The other blot on Kotlobay’s copybook occurred when he was held to a draw against Ali Ismailov in only his third fight.
Compared with Frenkel, this looks an easier assignment for Maccarinelli.
