Molitor pulls out with fractured leg
It is with disappointment we report that Jason Booth’s world title challenge against Steve Molitor has been cancelled after IBF super-bantamweight champion Molitor pulled out of their 23rd July fight with a fractured bone in his leg. The bout has been rescheduled for September 10.
Promoter Frank Maloney has confirmed that the July show in Sunderland at the Rainton Meadows Arena will still go ahead and the main event will now be British bantamweight champion Stuart Hall, from nearby Darlington, defending against former title-holder Martin Power of Camden Town.
Booth will have to wait for title shot
Sky have approved the replacement main event but British boxing Board of control have yet to approve the fight, but it is likely there should be any problems with the revised bout.
Hall stopped Power in September last year in a fight that was made at two pounds over the championship limit, Power will be looking to settle the score.
On the undercard Matthew Marsh tangles with Kris Hughes for the vacant Commonwealth super-bantam crown and local Sunderland hero Tony ‘Jaffa’ Jeffries takes part in his first eight-rounder, against Surrey based Pole Michael Banbula.
