Commonweatlh Super-Middleweight champion George Groves has been handed the chance to fight on a major American fight undercard in the early hours of August 1st.
“St George” as he is known, will fight Mexican Alfredo Contreras (11-7-1) on the Marquez v Diaz bill at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada after signing a deal with Golden Boy Promotions.
“I want to put on a show, be at my very best and win over the fans Stateside.” Said Groves.
“Golden Boy have great faith in me. I plan to repay them with dazzling performances.” Added the Hammersmith fighter.
Groves has been impressive in his short career so far, after eight straight victories in little over a year (seven by knockout), he knocked out reigning champ, Charles Adamu to gain the Commonwealth Title in only his ninth fight.

Also on the Vegas bill is the clash between the IBO and IBF Super-Middleweight Champion’s respectively when Sakio Bika take on the unbeaten Jean Paul Mendy with a clash against Groves in the future a distinct possibility.
