|Paul Edwards gets title shot
Liverpool’s former ABA Champion Paul Edwards was due to fight Luke Wilton in a British Flyweight Title eliminator in September, but will now take on the champion Shinny Bayaar instead.
Edwards received the news from coach Danny Vaughan on Monday, with the venue and the date still to be finalised.
Bayaar will provide considerably stiffer opposition for the 24 year-old scouser, having mixed in better class and fought a hard 12 round draw with Ashley Sexton in his last fight.
The Oldham-based Mongolion Champion, who fought for the WBC Internation title in only his second fight, (the first of which was a draw in Mongolia) has been champion since defeating another Edwards, Chris in October 2009.
Paul Edwards on the other hand is 7-0 with one knockout on his record and is currently ranked 4 in Britain.
Frank Maloney will make a statement soon about the venue but it looks likely to be either Liverpool or London later in the year.
