Amir Khan signs to fight Maidana
Amir Khan has agreed terms to defend his WBA light-welterweight title against big punching knockout artist Argentinian Marcos Maidana on December 11th at The Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas
.
With money troubles out of the way, which apparently stopped the fight getting signed earlier, both camps finally putting pen to paper and is a couple more signitures short of finding out who is the best light-welter in the world.
.
“I want to meet the likes of Marcos Maidana, Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander to unify the titles,” said Khan.
.
“Maidana is a great fighter, but I know I can beat him.
.
“I’ll fight Maidana and if Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley fight, like two semi-finals, then the winners can fight each other to see who is the number one.” Khan had said.

.

With many fans believing that Khan would avoid Maidana and take on an easier opponent in his second defense of the title, he won by out-pointing Andrea Kotelnik, this fight shows that Khan is willing to take on all comers has he said he would, in the quest to be recognised as the best in weight class.

.
“I want this fight and the fans want to see this fight,” Khan told ESPN.com. “It’s two explosive styles meeting up. It’s the explosive puncher against the quick and explosive boxer. Maidana wants to stop me from having my legacy, but that is not going to happen. But let him try.”
.
Since his knockout loss to Briedis Prescott, Khan knockers have called for him to fight the best including the big punchers in the division to prove that he is the real deal he says he is, well Khan as chosen the biggest puncher in the division in Madana and if he lands on Khans chin, then we will maybe get why.
.
It will be the Bolton world champions first contest since he beat American Paulie Malignaggi at Maddison Square Gardens, New York in the first defense of his title in May and will be a totally different proposition than Malignaggi.
.

For all the big punching though Maidana is far from naturally gifted boxers and can look very ordinary and clumsey at times has he looks for the big punches and Khan will be looking to out box and out speed the Argentinian challeger.
.
Maidana, his mandatory challenger, had been among a shortlist of possible opponents and is regarded as a particularly dangerous proposition having built up a record of 29 wins and one defeat with 27 knockouts.
.
Khan had claimed Maidana was pricing himself out of the fight but said on Facebook page today that the deal had been done.
.
”All the legality work for the next fight has been done,” he said. “The fight has been signed by both parties.”
.
The fight which will be staged in the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas will be an hot ticket and British fans are expected to travel in droves to support the 2004 Olympic silver medalist. Khan however had wanted the fight to be in England but with Golden Boy calling the shots on that one apparently made the concession to fight on the strip and get the fight signed at last.
.
The winner of this fight will then be hoping for a unification fight against the other title holders Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley who are rumored to be in talks to meet, and Khan has already spoke about his desire to fullfill his destiny, fight all comers, unify the titles and be considered the best.
