“Bomber” primed for British crown

Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Tony “Bomber” Bellew will take on Ovill McKenzie on February 19th at the York Hall in Bethnal Green as he targets the vacant British title in his 16th professional outing.
Bellew has ten knockouts in those fifteen wins and has shown real grit in the first match-up against the hard-hitting McKenzie, 31, who put the Liverpudlian on the canvas twice at the Echo Arena in December in what turned out to be the fight of the night.
The 28 year-old now takes on the former Prizefighter winner, and will be confident, after stopping Jamaican-born “Upsetter” in the eighth round last time out, of adding the British belt to his Commonwealth strap, which he claimed with an impressive first round knockout of Atoli Moore in March last year.

Also confirmed for the bumper card next month is big-hitting heavyweight Larry Olubamiwo, who faces former British title challenger “Big Bad” John McDermott and former world amateur champion Frankie Gavin, along with rising stars Liam Walsh and Ronnie Heffron.
