‘Rocky’ wins ‘Prizefighter’ super-middleweights
Local favorite Rocky Fielding blasted his way to the ‘Prizefighter’ super-middleweight trophy and a £32,000 pay cheque after knocking out all his opponents on the way to the final on Wednesday night  at the Olympia in Liverpool.

The 23-year-old scouser who had only three professional fights coming into the competition all won on points, had only entered the competition five days’ ago as a late replacement.

But the Oliver Harrison trained boxer proved to be the unknown quantity that the ‘Prizefighter always likes to pull out of the bag and with three straight stoppages on his way to victory, he becomes the first ‘Prizefighter’ contestant to achieve that knockout feat.

Fielding had stopped the big punching Patrick J Maxwell and Joe Ainscough before facing Swansea’s Tobias Webb, who had beaten former world champion Robin Reid and Jahmaine Smyle on his route to the final.

Fielding looked the fresher man going into the final, while it proved that Webb’s first two fights had taken a lot out of him. The Swansea man was hurt early in the fight with hard body shots that took the wind out of him as ‘Rocky’ looked to capitalise on his foe and a left hook caught Webb flush and he dropped to his knees.

Webb groggily made his way to his corner but hurt and with his energy levels now on zero he was compassionately pulled out of the fight by his cornerman Darren Pullman.

The roof was raised by the home crowd and Fielding who came to the ring to his name sake ‘Rocky’ soundtrack blasting out, completed his own life changing Rocky story.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the fight Fielding said. “I feel unbelievable, I feel good It couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’ve worked hard in boxing over the last twelve years, and it’s come.”
Fielding, who had initially turned down the chance to appear in the competition before changing his mind, described the success as “life-changing.”
