MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 08: Amir Khan ...
I think it is fair to say that the build up to Amir Khan vs Paul McCloskey fight this weekend has been shambolic to say the least. With only an handful of PPV tickets being sold, the fight was down graded to Sky Sports 3.

With Sky and Khan’s team still not being able to agree on money! the MEN boxing show as been wiped completely from the channel, leaving not only the fighters camps unhappy, but the fans who effectively pay them.

This is Sky’s announcement.

A spokesperson for Sky Sports confirmed: “Khan vs McCloskey will not be shown on Sky Box Office or any of the Sky Sports channels as it has not proved possible to reach an agreement on TV scheduling.

“Financial terms were agreed and a solution was offered for the fight to appear on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports HD3 following the decision not to broadcast on Sky Box Office. It was not accepted.

“The Khan vs McCloskey bill had been announced as a Sky Box Office event two months ago. Since then there were several changes to the bill so we made the decision – before the main promotional campaign started and Sky customers booked the event – to give it to Sky Sports viewers.”

For those who have never listened to a fight live on the radio, maybe here is your chance to experience what the fans of yesteryear had to do when that was the only option to hear the best fights with some of the greatest boxers.

There is nothing like listening to a boxing fight on the wireless, creating the scene in your minds eye and picturing the sweat the blood and the tears, whilst savoring the atmosphere like you were there.
Boxing on TV? will the last one out turn off the lights!!!
Listen to the fight on Saturday night, 21:45 on BBC Radio 5 live
