BRENTWOOD, ENGLAND - AUGUST 22: Carl Froch of...
Nottingham’s Carl Froch’s Super Six final and super-middleweight unification fight with Andre Ward has been postponed, after it was Tweeted by Ward, that he had been cut in sparring.

Eddie Hearn, Froch’s promoter, has been left stunned by the events and is unhappy that they have had to find out by second hand news and not from Ward directly! Claiming that they are in the dark and wont believe anything until he sees the cut damage himself.

Ward (pic right) said he required seven stitches in the training wound as he prepared for the scheduled Froch super fight, which was to take place in Atlantic City, in the States on October
29.

Wards Twitter Message.

BRENTWOOD, ENGLAND - AUGUST 22: Andre Ward of...

“Bad News: I sustained a cut in sparring a few hours ago…flew to LA to see the Doc. I got 7 stitches. I will let you know the new date soon”.

“All we can go on is the news given by Andre Ward, and he was very
unprofessional to do so in that manner,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“His
promoters will be fuming at the way he delivered that message.

“I told Carl go to the gym this morning, he’s sparring at the moment and
we’re ready to go in October. We’re not happy, we don’t believe it and
won’t believe it until we see the cut.
“Showtime run very tight documentary
series on fights like these. There’s probably camera crews outside his
house, waiting to see this alleged cut

I think he knows Carl Froch is going to take him to places he’s never
been before, and does he really fancy that? He’s a bit of a golden boy
in America, his back’s never been against the wall.”
– Eddie Hearn, Froch’s Promoter.

“If we’re told the fight is postponed then there’s not a lot we can do. I
know that Showtime will make sure fans see the evidence. Cuts can
happen, it’s unusual that cuts that size happen in sparring and it’s
unusual to be sparring that late at night.
“I think he knows Carl Froch is going to take him to places he’s never
been before, and does he really fancy that? He’s a bit of a golden boy
in America, his back’s never been against the wall.” Hearn added.

The much anticipated clash between the two super-middleweight stars, with Froch losing just one of his 29 fights to date, while Ward remains unbeaten and has won 13 of his 24 fights by knockout.
