Sam Sexton the former Commonwealth heavyweight champion is being spoken of like he is going to be an absolute threat to David Price for the vacant Lonsdale Belt, this belt was relinquished by Tyson Fury previously.
Sexton who is from Norwich has been victorious in eighty percent of his fights to this date.
The fight will be taking place in the Aintree Equestrian Centre this weekend in Liverpool.
There is an amazing line up of fights and this is the main header.  Price will be fighting from his hometown Liverpool, he also was a contender for the commonwealth games and won a gold medal for his Super Heavyweight performance in Melbourne and also attained a bronze medal in 2008 in Beijing.  His professional record stands at twelve fights with no losses.
Expectation levels of fans may want to see Price knock out his opponent very quickly like he did previously against John McDermott and that was seventy three seconds later.  Price’s trainer Franny Smith has told the Echo news that Sexton has the ability to stretch and has had a thorough training camp.  Smith said, “The way we have adopted this training camp, we’ve put Sam sexton in our heads as better than he is, we’ve taken on board his defensive work and we’ve tried to work on areas of our game to try and counter all the positives of Sam.”
The Price camp seems to be prepared for their toughest opponent to this date.  There is also excitement  building especially with David Price himself, he said, It’s a lovely belt and so many fighters have held it, it will be a start of something big for me,” he also made comparison of himself and his fans and the general working elite he said “I’ve got the same pressures as any other person in the world who’s got a family and has to go out and earn money, I’m no different from the fella who has to get up and lay bricks for a living, we’ve both got  to go and perform.”
The event is promoted by Frank Maloney Promotions who say that Liverpool will stage one its biggest boxing shows for years on Saturday May 19th on the undercard is Paul Edwards vs. Kevin Stachell for his Commonwealth flyweight title, Ashley Theophane vs. Darren Hamilton  and other contests with Adil Anwar, Mike Robinson, John Quigley and more.
The weigh is on 18th May which is public event at the enclosure at the Aintree Equestrian Centre Ormskirk Road Aintree Liverpool L9 5AS at 1pm, Frank Maloney says “Come along and support your fighter!”
