British championship fight circular throws up some tasty match-ups

There are some tasty British title fights and eliminators lined up, worthy of continuing in the great tradition of domestic battles for the the famous Lonsdale belt. The British Boxing Board of Control yesterday issued the latest fight circular, which bring up some interesting pairings, including a challenge for Billy Joe Saunders against Martin Murray and also Stephen Smith and Joe Murray, gym mates under Joe Gallagher, being matched in a British title eliminator, also George Groves and Kenny Anderson look set to finally get their rematch made by the end of September. full circular below..

SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT

GEORGE GROVES (Holder) v KENNETH ANDERSON 

Due to Promoter Frank Warren advising that a suitable venue could not be secured, the Stewards decided to put out the above contest for purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12.00noon on Wednesday, 11th July 2012, the contest to take place by the end of September 2012.

MIDDLEWEIGHT (Vacant)

MARTIN MURRAY (Holder) v BILLY JOE SAUNDERS 

The Stewards decided to put out the above contest for purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12.00noon on Wednesday, 11th July 2012, the contest to take place by the end of September 2012.

LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT

BRIAN ROSE (Holder) v SAM WEBB 

Following agreement being reached between the parties for the above purse bid to be postponed for one month, the Stewards decided to put out the above contest for purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12.00noon on Wednesday, 11th July 2012, the contest to take place by the end of September 2012.

LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT

DARREN HAMILTON (Holder) v STEVE WILLIAMS 

The Stewards decided to put out the above contest for purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12.00noon on Wednesday, 11th July 2012, the contest to take place by the end of September 2012.

LIGHTWEIGHT
DERRY MATTHEWS (Holder) v GAVIN REES 

The above contest to be promoted by Eddie Hearn, will take place on Saturday, 7th July 2012 in Sheffield. The winner to waive grace and defend when called upon to do so. 
This Championship is also for Gavin Rees’ European Boxing Union Championship.

SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT

GARY BUCKLAND (Holder) v STEPHEN FOSTER JNR. 

The above contest to be promoted by Richard Hatton MBE, will take place on a date and at a venue as yet to be advised.

FEATHERWEIGHT

LEE SELBY (Holder) v MARTIN LINDSAY 

The Stewards decided to put out the above contest for purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12.00noon on Wednesday, 11th July 2012, the contest to take place by the end of September 2012.

STEPHEN SMITH v JOE MURRAY 

The Stewards decided to put out the above final eliminator contest for purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12.00noon on Wednesday, 11th July 2012, the contest to take place by the end of September 2012.
