Anthony Joshua through to the super-heavyweight quarter finals

GB super-heavyweight hope Anthony Joshua defeated Cuba’s Erislandy Savon, but it was a close call in the end. Big Josh kept his composure and boxed well to secure his place in the quarter finals to the backdrop of great support from the home nation fans.
The fight really opened up in the third round with both landing heavy shots after two tight rounds prior that Joshua had built up a two point lead going into the final session.
At the end the Londoner had done enough to take the verdict by just one point 17-16 to leave himself one win away from a place on the podium.
Joshua, 22, will face China’s Zhilei Zhang in the last eight on Monday (11.15pm).
