Tony Bellew’s destiny is now in his own hands after the BBBoC ruled that the fighter had adequate grounds to determine his managerial contract, which was formerly held by Frank Warren, following last week’s hearing at the Board’s Cardiff base.  It means that the 17-1 (11), contender is now free to explore other options as he seeks to climb to the top of the 175lb division.

Bellew declared his intention to part company with Warren on the 21st of May when announcing that he was determining his managerial contract — this position was upheld by the Board after it was found that “Bomber” had sufficient contractual grounds for doing so.

The parties, therefore, are free to go their separate ways, ending months of speculation as to whether or not the Liverpudlian would be forced to see out his deal with his former manager — an agreement that was due to expire on March 10 2013.

The 29-year-old former Commonwealth titlist can now focus on his September 8 meeting with former middleweight world title challenger Edison Miranda, which takes place at London’s Alexandra Palace.

Bellew is the joint headliner of the Matchroom-promoted show.  Darren Barker shares top billing with the three-time ABA heavyweight title winner — “Dazzling” meets Italy’s Simone Rotolo for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental middleweight belt in that one.
