WBA World Super middleweight champion Brian Magee defends his title belt against Danish hero Mikkel Kessler next weekend and the self acclaimed ‘most hated man in Denmark at the minute’ is stepping up his preparations for what has been described as his biggest ever fight.

Magee from Belfast will take on former world champion Kessler in his back yard at the BOXEN Arena, Herning in Denmark and the Lisburn born champion who has big respect for his challenger says that during the fight he will have nothing but hate for him to achieve his Danish hatrick.

Magee is somewhat accustomed to fighting in Denmark having already beaten fellow Danes Mads Larsson and Rudy Markusson in previous and the 37-year-old said his reputation now precedes him.

“Everybody in Denmark knows who I am and what I’m about and how good a fighter I am, there’s no need to trash talk,” he told UTV.

“Everybody knows about Mikkel Kessler. His reputation speaks for itself.

“It’s a matter of getting in there and getting the fight on.”

“I’m the most hated man in Denmark at the minute. It’s all part of the game when you go in the ring you go in to fight and that’s it,” he explained.

“Mikkel is a nice guy. We hate each other for that 50 minutes in the ring. Afterwards we will wish each other the best of luck.”
