in the changing room after his win over Terry Carruthers in the final.

Classy Larry Ekundayo impressively boxed his way to the the Prizefighter trophy last night, taking the £32,000 prize money at York Hall. His promoter and manager Spencer Fearon had been telling everyone his man would win it, even though he was of 8-1 going in with the bookies.
Ekundayo now 30 years old, only turned pro in March and in taking victory in the final against Carruthers and beat Rocky Fieldings record of winning the one night show after only two previous professional fights coming into the tournament.
Stoke Newington’s Ekundayo who was born in Nigeria impressed with stylish wins over pre-tournament favourite Craig McEwan, Kris Carslaw and the hardened Terry Carruthers who he stopped in the third round in the final.
Ekundayo took an extra £2,000 too, that was on offer for the first time for his stoppage victory over Curruthers.
