Reading Heavyweight Michael Sprott shocked the highly regarded and unbeaten German heavyweight Edmund Gerber on Saturday (15th December) night via a majority points decision over 10 rounds in Nuremberg, Germany.

The judges scores read at the end of the bout 97-94, 97-94 in favour of Sprott and the other had it 95-95 a draw, giving the British heavyweight.

Sprott had lost to Gerber in September when he was stopped in the fourth round in a controversial ending that vexed a usually placid Sprott and he proceeded to push the referee and was fined for his behavior.

But in the rematch the former British and European champion was in inspired mood and went for it bullying and outworking the home fighter and giving him a good hiding to be fair and exposing his limitations.

Sprott, will now hopefully be taking on Robert Helenius for his old European title in his next fight.
