Tony Bellew made it second time lucky in his rematch against Isaac Chilemba taking a unanimous decision over the distance after a fight not too dissimilar than the last one that was a draw, but Bellew gave that extra bit more this time when it mattered.

Final fight scores were 116-112, 117-112, 116-112 all in favour of the Liverpool man who retains his WBC silver light-heavyweight title.

To Bellew’s credit he changed his approach from the last fight and took the fight to Chilemba from the start pushing the pace and making the African challenger uncomfortable. Bellew seemed to have a problem with his left eye from early on on he was constantly squinting throughout which could have effected his performance.

Bellew dropped off a little in a few of the middle rounds and allowed Chilemba to come back into the contest, but he finished the last rounds well and deserved his win.

A world title fight looms for Bellew who is now the WBC mandatory challenger and he will hope to face the winner of Chad Dawson and Adonis Stevenson who meet on June 8 in Canada.
