Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell MBE blasted out his debut opponent Andy Harris at 1:28 of first round, without taking a punch back, in his home city of Hull at the KC Stadium.
This well school lad from Hull, the most successful ever British amateur boxer has a great future ahead of him, but will have harder nights than this, because this kind of quality will take him far.
Harris was over in the first seconds of the fight after a perfectly timed southpaw right hook, which hit Harris on top of the head dropped him. Harris, got up early and reassured the ref he was ok to go on, but it looked a matter of when. Harris couldn’t cope with the speed and sharp punching of lightweight prospect Campbell and was soon down for a second time from. Again he got up but Campbell was on him quick, trapped Harris to the ropes, and the referee inevitably jumped in to stop the fight.
