coldwell boxing logoLiverpool’s Neil Perkins has been handed a superb opportunity by promoter, Dave Coldwell, as he now heads to his home city’s Echo Arena on March 15th to face former British title challenger, Erick Ochieng, over eight rounds. The fight represents a significant step up in class for “The Leopard” but Coldwell believes this is a chance for his charge to demonstrate the talent that took him to the heights of the amateur code throughout the last decade.

“Since “Perko” came to Coldwell Boxing, he’s made his intentions clear that he wants to take part in good fights that will bring the best out of him. Neil taking on Ochieng is a prime example of that. The light-middleweight division is shaping up pretty well domestically at the moment and I’m very confident that Neil can play a big part in it. Ochieng will be desperate to prove a few doubters wrong and that’s what makes this fight compelling. Both want to win so badly.”

Coldwell added, “Neil is in brilliant shape as he had a fight coming up on my show and that was over eight rounds so there’s no doubt at all that he’ll be ready for Ochieng. He’s conceding quite a bit of experience in this one but he can make that up with his amateur background and the fact that he’s been sparring quality guys. This is a late addition to Matchroom’s show but after speaking with Eddie [Hearn], we’re both confident it can add to an already great show. Neil has got a chance to beat a top opponent on a big show live on Sky and I’m confident he’ll grab this with both hands.”
