We speak to former British and European light-welterweight champion now boxing coach, manager and newly licensed promoter Pat Barrett, about his plans to stage his own local boxing events to showcase his latest crop of talent coming through the Collyhurst and Moston Lads Club in Manchester.

The gym is the same one that Pat boxed for under Brian Hughes, the founder of the gym who recently retired. Pat and Thomas McDonagh, another former fighter from the gym, are carrying the name on and strive to have a stable of boxers who can be as successful as the past ones and keep the Collyhurst name going strong.

Barrett says his plan is to take the pressure of selling tickets off the new pros turning over and do the job for them until they learn their trade and start to build up a good fan base, while allowing his fighters to stay active on regular small hall shows. Listen to the full interview on the video below.
