British boxing legend Joe Calzaghe was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame last weekend on the 25th anniversary of the festival. The final day was was highlighted by the enshrinement of the new inductees. This year saw three all-time great Champions go in; as well as Calzaghe, Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya were also honoured. An emotional Calzaghe says he struggled after retiring from the sport he loved. The former undisputed world super-middleweight champion admits he initially found it very hard after hanging up his gloves in February 2009.
“I thank God, my fans, my family who have always been there for me… And thank you all for being here and giving me one of the best weekends, I will never forget and I will cherish it for the rest of my life, thank you very much.”
Calzaghe also recalls his fights against Chris Eubank, Bernard Hopkins, Jeff Lacy and Roy Jones Jnr.
