WBC world super-middleweight champion Badou Jack would welcome a unification bout with IBF champ James DeGale.

Jack who made the first defence of the title he won from Anthony Dirrell against George Groves on the Floyd MayweatherAndrew Berto Undercard when he outpointed the “Saint” and now he is hoping to move on to face another Brit.

DeGale, the man from North West London has only suffered one defeat in his pro career which was at the hands of Groves.

Jack has been quoted as saying: “It’s going to happen next year, for sure. I’d prefer to fight DeGale to Julio Chavez Jr because he’s got the belt. I think he’s a better fighter than Chavez Jr.”

On the possibility of travelling to Britain for the clash, Jack went onto say: “If the money’s right, why not? Right now we’re focused on Las Vegas and doing it here in America. We can start with Chavez Jr but I heard he’s not ready yet. We’ll see.

“He’s a very tough guy who comes to fight but DeGale is a better fighter. I’m training now and I should be back in the ring around February. I’m waiting for Floyd [Mayweather] to tell me who I’m fighting.”

DeGale made the first defence of his IBF title last month out on the road when he earned a wide points decision over former long term reigning champion Lucian Bute in Quebec City, Canada.
