Stephen Smith challenges IBF world super-featherweight champion Jose Pedraza on Saturday night in Connecticut, America.

Unbeaten Puerto Rican, Pedraza, 26, (record: 21-0, 12KOs) will be making the second defence of his title and is rated and expected to be the next star from his country, but the Liverpudlian is super confident that he can pull off the shock win and bring the belt back home to the UK.

Smith, 30, (record: 23-1, 13KOs) would join his brother Liam (WBO super-welterweight title holder) as a world champion. Smith would also make history by becoming the 13th current reigning British world champion and ‘Swifty is confident he can do it!

“I believe he won’t stand with me. I have said all along, I believe I punch hard for a super-featherweight and, if I land, he will know he has been hit. I believe I can get rid of anyone.” said Smith.

“It is going to be a bit of a cagey fight at times but I will up the pace and I think he finds the weight hard as well. We will see how the fight unfolds but I am very confident that I will be dominant on the night and I will be a new world champion.”
