JACK CATTERALL DEFEATS JOE HUGHES IN BOLTON

THE WBO INTERCONTINENTAL SUPER-LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Chorley’s Jack Catterall made a successful defence of his WBO Intercontinental Super-Lightweight title when he  outpointed Malmesbury’s Joe Hughes by unanimous decision with scores of 115-113, 117-112 and 117-113.

The champion dominated for large spells of a gripping encounter against a rough and ready Hughes. Ultimately, undefeated Catterall’s class showed as he took a deserved victory at the Macron Arena in Bolton.

Slick southpaw Catterall is improving in every fight, and Friday’s win secured him a crack at the British title, currently held by Huddersfield’s Tyrone Nurse.
