Undefeated in 22 fights, Sheffield’s Kid Galahad is now ready to become the latest world boxing champion from the fabled Ingle gym.

Smooth operator Galahad will fight Danish star Dennis Ceylan for the IBF Inter-Continental Featherweight title on the massive Chris Eubank Jnr v Arthur Abraham show at The SSE Arena, Wembley on July 15th on ITV Box Office.

The Sheffield ring craftsman has racked up a flawless record since turning pro as a teenager in 2009 and is raring to go against any of the big names in the featherweight division – IBF champion Lee Selby, former world champion Carl Frampton, or ex-world super bantamweight King Scott Quigg

But first he must take care of business against unbeaten Ceylan, a hugely respected 28-year-old Dane, who last year beat Ryan Walsh to capture the European Featherweight title.

“It’s simple, this is the biggest fight of my career against an unbeaten boxer who wants the same as me, glory. I’ve got nothing but respect for Ceylan, who has beaten some top notch opponents, but I look at this as a sizeable step towards my ultimate goal, to become the fifth world champion from the Ingle gym.

“I’d fight any of the big names after I’ve knocked out Ceylan, anytime, anywhere and at the drop of a hat,” said Kid Galahad, who last fought in February when he easily outgunned Leonel Hernandez at London’s Olympia.

“I’m lucky in that the featherweight division is probably the best in boxing right now. It is packed full of great fights for me and I’m ready to roll with any of those Brits; Selby, Quigg or Frampton.

“I back myself. I know how good I am and my record tells you I will be the next world champ from the Ingle gym. That would be a massive honour as the roll call of previous champs, started off by Brendan Ingle and now followed on by John and Dominic, is amazing. It just shows what can be done with talent, dedication and really top level coaching. Sheffield is one of the hotbeds of world boxing and the Ingle gym is where that natural well of talent is developed and nurtured.”

The SSE Arena, Wembley show, to be promoted by Poxon Sports, in association with Team Sauerland, promises to be a cracker.

“It’s a huge opportunity for me on a fantastic bill and in front of the ITV cameras,” said 27-year-old Kid Galahad. “I was impressive in my last outing against a late opponent and I will thrill the fans even more this time around. One more win in this one and then I can’t wait for share the ring with Selby, Quigg or Frampton, hopefully later this year. I’ve come a long way since I was banned from all the buses in Sheffield due to bad behaviour!”

Kid Galahad makes no bones about the fact that boxing saved him from a life of petty delinquency.

“Without a doubt, boxing has given me everything and I want to give the sport back so much,” he said. “I want to entertain, to give people watching at ringside or at home a really enjoyable night, seeing a perfectionist at work. And someone who has changed his life around for the better due to this sport.

“Anyone who sees me now knows I live, breathe, eat and sleep in the gym. That will always be the case as boxing means everything to me. Becoming a world champion isn’t a maybe, it is a fact.”

Kid Galahad has beaten domestic stars such as Jason Booth, Josh Wale and James Dickens, but has set his sights on global domination.

“I’m absolutely convinced I will be the best in the world for many years and my record will only get better. I stopped Dickens, who was previously undefeated, I easily beat Fred Mundraby, who had lost only once in 17 fights before I met him and I walked through Adeilson Dos Santos, who was 14-0 when we touched gloves. Even against very good fighters I beat them with plenty to spare. That shows the class I’ve got. Moving up to another level won’t be an issue for me at all. I will keep winning and then when my chance comes I will take it with both hands.”

Kid Galahad says London show promises to be a thriller for fight fans. “It doesn’t get any better than Eubank against Abraham, as both are class boxers and I know there will be stacks of other fights on the card which will have supporters on the edge of their seats. Martin Ward versus Anthony Cacace for the British and commonwealth featherweight title is a cracker and me versus Ceylan will be a belter.”

Ceylan, who boasts a ring record of 18 wins and two draws, said: “I’m so ready for this fight! I’ve been training for months waiting for a big opportunity like this. I took no holiday after my last fight, straight back into the gym, so I feel well prepared for this fight.

“I have been waiting for an opportunity like this, so when I was offered the fight, I knew straight away to take it. It’s about time I start taking some chances in my career!

“I have fought in the UK before as an amateur and I cannot wait to come back. I love the UK fans. The UK have the best boxing fans in the world and I’m looking forward to experiencing that atmosphere over there.

“I really want to fight Lee Selby for the world title next. I know Selby well, and it would be a great fight between me and him. But first I have to get past Kid Galahad. I just hope Galahad is ready for what I’m going to bring, because he needs to be!”

Ceylan’s promoter Nisse Sauerland said: “This is an incredible opportunity for Dennis and one he simply had to take. Dennis has impressed in his last two outings, both times against British opponents, but I know there’s even more to come from him. There’s no doubt that Galahad is another step up, however, and will be the toughest opponent Dennis has faced so far, so he’ll have to be at his very best in this fight. I’m looking forward to him showing the British fans what he’s got to offer. Dennis has world title aspirations, but it’s essential that he gets the victory over Galahad first.”
