We are very pleased to anounce that Doncaster‘s light-middleweight Jason Rushton, who was put in a drug induced coma after suffering a brain injury in his fight with Brian Rose at the Bolton Arena on Friday night is now awake and talking.

Jason was stopped with one second remaining of their tenth and final round, the fight took place after Ryan Rhodes‘s European title stoppage victory over Jamie Moore.

A spokeswoman for the British Boxing Board of Control said Jason ‘The Rocket’ Rushton, aged 26, had been moved from intensive care and to a ward in hospital and was doing “extremely well”.

She added: “He is awake and talking. The prognosis is very good, but it will take a long time for him to fully recover and he will be in hospital for a while.”

Many get well messages have been posted on Jasons Facebook group

“We send our best wishes and prayers to Jason, Nadia, John and all the family, get well soon Jason, we are all behind you and know your fighters heart will soon have you back home. God Bless you.”
