Matt Skelton, the former British and European heavyweight champion was sentenced to five months in prison today, charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Skelton, 43, admitted trying to avoid speeding fines three times between November 2006 and August 2008 after his car, a Porsche car had been clocked breaking the speed limit.
In handing down the sentence at Cambridge Crown Court, judge Gareth Hawkesworth told Skelton, “You are a role model to the public, particularly in Bedford and Bedfordshire, and you knew that you were. One deception in your case may be forgivable but not three over a long period of time.”
