Video: Matchroom boxing stars wish Gavin ‘The Rock’ Rees goodluck prior to his WBC lightweight world title challenge against undefeated American star Adrien Broner in Atlantic City on Saturday night.

From BritishBoxers we wish Gavin the very best luck on Saturday night and are backing our man to cause an upset! It wont be easy and to some is almost an impossible task, but ‘The Rock’ is as hard as one, and to shift him takes some doing.
In a 39 fight career Rees has only lost once and that was up at light-welterweight when he surrendered his WBA world title to Andriy Kotelnyk. That loss was in 2008 and Rees is at a totally different place now and is a more seasoned professional who looks to have matured into better fighter.
Rees, 32,
had a good 2012 winning the British and European lightweight titles and comes into the fight in good form. The Welshman started his professional career as a featherweight before going
onto win the WBA light-welterweight title in 2007, when at the last minute he
stepped in to outpoint Souleymane M’baye. Rees then lost the title in his
first defence against Kotelnyk, but he was never really a light-welterweight and since then the Newbridge boxer
has stayed at lightweight and remained unbeaten in 11 fights on the road to getting another crack
at a world title and Broner.
The American champion is one of the highest
regarded prospects in world boxing,
and without any doubt is an exciting talent who looks to have some of the special ingredients to make it big in the game. But has he been tested yet? Don’t write off ‘The Rock’ he
gives anyone a fight and Broner will soon realise one way or another, that they breed them tough in
the valleys.
All the best Gavin do yourself proud.
