British boxer Kell Brook has ruled out a 2015 fight between himself and British rival Amir Khan.

Brook revealed that he is choosing to focus on a potential fight with either Manny Pacquiao, or Floyd Mayweather.

A summer date was in question, as representatives looked to set a date on the potential Brook/Khan clash, but that has now been put to bed – for 2015, at least.

The odds were heavily in the Brit’s favour going into the weekend’s fight against Jo Jo Dan, with him being offered at 1/14 for the win, but Brook himself was the bookies underdog when he surprised Shawn Porter last August to win the welterweight title by split decision. A situation he is sure to find himself in again should he get a fight against Mayweather or Pacquiao.

Meanwhile Khan is set to name his next opponent in the coming days (Likly Chris Algieri) with pressure building on him to face Brook, who successfully defended his IBF welterweight title Saturday with a fourth-round stoppage of Dan, it looks like that all British fight will have to wait for now,

While both boxers are open to a possible clash in the future, Khan too still has his sights set on a fight with the winner of Mayweather and Pacquiao, who meet in Las Vegas on May 2.

Brook called out Khan after dismantling Romanian challenger Dan at a sold-out Motorpoint Arena in his native Sheffield, with his promoter Eddie Hearn adding that Wembley Stadium was free for the pair on June 13.

Khan told Sky Sports – “It’ll happen one day and if Kell really wants to fight me, I’ll fight him, but the winner takes all. I’ll do a huge bonus because I know he’s going to lose the fight. Give him a little guarantee, but the guy who wins the fight takes a big lump sum. That’s how confident I am against Kell Brook.”

Brook will now keep a close eye on the build up, and eventual fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather, to see whom he will be facing should the organising for the fight go to plan.

Brook spoke to the press, and mentioned: “I think the Amir Khan fight is gone for this year,”

“I’m the world champion and I will fight some other massive name,” he added.

Brook will surely be hoping that Mayweather has the same approach to a potential fight as Brook had with Dan, speaking before the fight he said

“I remember being that guy, being shut out and not getting the in’s and so I’m giving him the opportunity to fight for this world title.” He said.

“It makes sense to do a unification fight. No contact has been made yet with either of them (Mayweather or Pacquiao)

“But I want to be involved in the big fights.”

It is simple to most surely, the two Brits fight each other, the winner can then chase a fight with the Mayweather-Pacquaio winner!
