Unbeaten light-middleweight Liam Smith gets a first world title shot when he faces 17-1 American John Thompson for the vacant WBO crown on Saturday night at the Manchester Arena Live on BoxNation.
The Liverpool man has earned his shot after building a convincing run of 20-0-1 and has promised to bring the world title back to Liverpool. The 27-year-old has won his last five fights by knockout, and will be looking to go six from six when he faces New Jersey’s Thompson.
