Ahead of a bumper weekend of boxing, a domestic clash that has elevated the excitement of many fans sees Marc Leach take on Qais Ashfaq in an eliminator for the super-bantamweight British title.
After suffering a defeat in his opening bout, Salford’s Leach has accrued an impressive record winning 14 bouts and capturing the English title.
Ashfaq, on the other hand, has won his eight pro bouts, setting up a high stakes battle for a shot at the British title.
Looking ahead to the bout, Leach told BBTV: “We have both got similar styles, it’s going to be a chess match this one I know it is. It’s going to be hard and it’s going to be tough, I’m moving up in weight so everything is in his favour, but I have trained hard for this fight.
“I have been getting the rounds in with good awkward fighters just like me and Qais – I can’t wait for this fight now. It’s time for me to shine. This is a really big platform to be on, it’s a really big opportunity and I’m going to grab it with both hands.”
