ESPN’s Mike Coppinger commented on Monday that former two-time heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua will link-up with American trainer Robert Garcia for his crucial rematch with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua was expected to shakeup his corner team following the defeat to Usyk first time around last September after having been trained by Rob McCracken since his professional debut, and the Brit looked to be taking a tour of the States shortly after the loss to scout potential suitors to lead his camps moving forward.
According to Coppinger, it is Robert Garcia who will look to guide ‘AJ’ back towards his heavyweight titles after an impressive track record that has seen him enjoy great success with brother Mikey, as well as Brandon Rios and Jose Ramirez. The rematch is expected to take place on July 23rd, though the destination is yet to be confirmed with a number of potential suitors both domestically and abroad.
