Rio 2016 Olympian Josh Kelly (11-1-1, 7KOs) will fight for the second time in two months as he headlines a Wasserman Boxing show at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle on July 30th. Lucas Bastida (18-1-1, 10KOs) of Argentina stands in the Sunderland man’s way in a ten-round super-welterweight clash.
The Argentine has never fought outside his native country, nor has he fought anybody of note, but British fans need not look far for examples of unknown quantities coming out of South America to score major upsets on British soil. A cautious approach will need to be adopted if Kelly is to continue the momentum he gathered last time out against Peter Kramer in Liverpool as he seeks the big names at 154 pounds.
The in-form Harlem Eubank (14-0-0, 6KOs) continues his development in a ten-round contest against Liverpudlian Tom Farrell (21-5-0, 5 KOs) respectively. Eubank scored an impressive second-round knockout versus Sean ‘Masher’ Dodd last time out and will look to add another North-West scalp to his resume as he looks to secure titles at 140 pounds.
Heavyweight prospect Hosea Stewart (2-0-0) is set to run out for a third time as a professional versus Franklin Ignatius (3-0-0, 1KOs) in an all-undefeated clash following Stewart’s dominant performance over Phil Williams last time out. Tokyo 2020 Olympic welterweight silver medalist Pat McCormack (1-0-0, 1KO) is also scheduled to make his second pro appearance following an emphatic first-round stoppage on his debut last time out, while middleweight and former reality TV star Aaron Chalmers (1-0-0) fights again following his debut in Liverpool last time out.
