World super-lightweight king Josh Taylor confirmed he has split with former trainer Ben Davison on Monday and that he will now be trained by Joe McNally of Liverpool.

In a statement posted to social media on Monday, Taylor wrote, “It’s a pleasure to officially announce that I’ve teamed up with & gonna be working with Joe McNally moving forward. I’m excited for this new chapter in my career & producing more great nights ahead.”

Taylor last appeared in February at Glasgow’s Hydro Arena where he had his hand raised with a controversial split-decision victory over Jack Catterall for the undisputed crown at 140lbs. The reaction in the following weeks was riotous with many believing the Englishman deserved the nod on the night.

The Scot has vacated three of the four belts he held that night in order to make a rematch with Catterall and the pair are expected to run it back in early 2023.
