American heavyweight Jermaine Franklin is now a frontrunner to face Anthony Joshua on his April 1st return.
The news comes courtesy of Chris McKenna of the Daily Star.
Franklin lost a narrow majority decision to Dillian Whyte in November.
Many felt the American deserved the nod on the night at the O2 Arena and it appears his performance has earned him another big fight on British shores.
Rumours initially suggested Australia’s Demsey McKean was the man most likely to face Joshua but attention now appears to have turned to the American.
Eddie Hearn has confirmed Joshua will return on in April for the first time since his rematch defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia five months ago.
The fight will be Joshua’s first without a world title on the line in twelve outings.
