Unified welterweight champion Natasha Jonas insists she’s going to ‘put Lauren Price in her place’ in their March 7th fight.

The pair collide at London’s Royal Albert Hall to unify the WBC, IBF and WBA titles at 147lbs after winning their previous bouts in Liverpool before Christmas.

Jonas headlined the BOXXER-promoted card at the city’s Exhibition Centre, comfortably outpointing Ivana Habazin over 10 rounds to add the WBC belt to the IBF she has held since July 2023.

Earlier in the night, Tokyo 2020 gold medalist Price had defended her WBA welterweight crown with a third-round stoppage of Bexcy Mateus.

The evening concluded with the pair exchanging verbals ahead of a mooted bout, which was formally announced by BOXXER in December.

‘Nothing she brings intimidates me’

Price became world champion in her seventh professional bout when she won the WBA title against America’s Jessica McCaskill.

The win saw her replicate her glittering success from the amateurs, which culminated in her winning Olympic gold at welterweight in Tokyo three years ago.

She is also 10 years younger than Jonas, though the Liverpudlian insists she is unfazed by the challenge put up by the Welsh fighter.

Jonas told Sky Sports: “I’ve been in with [fighters] I believe are bigger and better, so there’s nothing Lauren Price brings that I think intimidates me.

“There’s always younger people that want to take your spot, and some hungry lions that come and take your place, so you’ve got to put them in their place.”

Jonas has won all seven of her fights since a loss to Katie Taylor back in May 2021 – a run which has seen her collect five major titles in the process.

Fight headlines an all-female fight card

The welterweight will unification will sit atop an all-female card akin to the event headlined by Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall in October 2022.

BOXXER also promoted that event which sold out London’s O2 Arena.

The historic feel to the night will be compounded by the hosting at the Royal Albert Hall, a venue which Jonas admits she has a greater appreciation for now that the fight has been announced.

“I didn’t realise how much of a huge occasion it was. I know it’s a great historic building which has held loads of great events, but now that the news is out there, the reaction from all the fans has been amazing.

“I think it’s going to be a great night for everyone involved.”

The full undercard is yet to be announced at the time of writing.
