Haye to Bellew: “let’s do it, if you want it.”
Before his WBC world cruiserweight title win on Sunday night in Liverpool, Tony Bellew publicly hit out at his dislike for David Haye and called for a fight with the former undisputed cruiserweight king and heavyweight titleist, branding him the ‘Bermondsey bitch!’ – fighting talk indeed!
There again after sensationallyknocking out Ilunga Makabu in the third round at Everton’s Goodison Park ground, the 33-year-old Liverpudlian called Haye out again and challenged the heavyweight to drop back down and take him on at cruiserweight.
Bellew’s anger towards Haye stems from his disapproval of the ‘Hayemakers’ last two comeback fights against Mark De Mori and Arnold Gjergjaj this year.
Haye’s last fight vs Gjergjaj
“What David Haye is doing at the moment is degrading boxing. David’s better than that and he knows it.” said Bellew.
“He wouldn’t use that guy De Mori as a sparring partner because of his head coming off in the gym, so how can he justify putting that on TV?
“David is possibly the quickest and most dangerous heavyweight in the world – and he’s fighting a guy who learned to box off YouTube. You’re having a laugh.
“And that last fella looked like Lurch from the Adams Family. Going down off a jab and looking at the referee to help. It’s making a mockery of the game.
“The minute this Makabu fight stops I’ll plan the unification there’ll be no handpicking clowns. Then let’s fight some heavyweights.
“And I’ll fight that bitch from Bermondsey, as long as he makes his natural weight.”
Bellew’s last fight vs Makabu
Seems Bellew really wants to fight Haye, he was also critical of Hayes fight coverage on TV channel DAVE, calling it a joke channel with joke boxing and today Haye responded to Bellew’s calls, saying, ‘let’s do it!’
“Congratulations, you won the vacant WBC title a lifelong ambition realised.” said Haye on his instagram account addressing Bellew.
“But amongst all the excitement maybe that punch you took in the first round that dropped you, your brain got scrambled because talking about knocking me out, you must have lost your mind.
“After I’ve knocked out Shannon Briggs, you want to be on the list too? I’m knocking out all people who are talking too much.
“I used to be a cruiserweight too so we’re both the same height and the same size, let’s do it, if you want it.”
