With boxing getting little if no terrestrial tv coverage, it is good to hear that ITV have thrown there much welcomed hat into the ring, when it was reported that they are in talks to screen live the 15th May second title defence of Amir Khan.
Khan’s American debut against Paulie Malignaggi is being held at the boxing Mecca that is New York’s Madison Square Garden, and back yard of the flamboyant Malignaggi.
Pay per view on Sky Sky was expected to show the fight in a night of British world title fights, withdouble Dagenham’s Kevin Mitchell, fighting Michael Katsidis for the WBO lightweight championship on the same night in London.
Khan flew into New York yesterday after a UK tour with Malignaggi to promote the fight, and will be doing a press conferance in the Big Apple today.
British Boxers would like to congratulate ITV on this show of support for boxing and hope that the BBC take head and realise like ITV, that boxing gets very high TV ratings, which tells us there are many boxing fans out here, we had just been forgotten.
