Danny McIntosh, the current Light Heavyweight champion of England will be challenging French champion Thierry Karl for the vacant European Light Heavyweight title tonight at the Palais des sports Marcel Cerdan, Levallois-Perret, Hauts-de-Seine in France.
The old adjective in British boxing, was that a UK fighter had to score a knockout to get a draw on the continent and that could well be the case tonight.
But McIntosh is under no illusions of the task that awaits him in France.
“I’m going to have to knock him out, I know that,” McIntosh told Andrew Wake of Boxing News.
“I can’t afford to lose this. This is the chance of a lifetime so I can’t mess this up. I’m going to fight as smart and as cute as I can to make sure I bring that European title back.
“I think his style is made for me to be honest because I’m quite awkward but I’m also too fast.”
“This could lead to big things. They’re saying if I win this I could be in the top ten with the WBC and obviously that could lead to a world title,” McIntosh enthused. read more…
