The BBBoC has confirmed that Dillian Whyte has given up his British heavyweight title. ‘The Stewards were advised that Dillian Whyte relinquished the Championship’, they stated when revealing the news. Whyte beat Dereck Chisora by decision in December, but the title was not on the line following their pre-fight press conference melee.

In other news, Blain McGuigan has won the right to stage the fight between Craig Kennedy and Matty Askin for the vacant cruiserweight belt. Date and venue TBC.

Promoter Frank Warren has asked if Tommy Langford can squeeze in a voluntary defence of his middleweight crown against Craig Cunningham. The fight has been ratified and will take place in April at a ‘venue as yet to be advised’. Elliott Matthews and Jack Arnfield will fight an eliminator on May 6 in Bolton, with Steve Wood promoting.

Bradley Skeete’s rescheduled welterweight defence against Shayne Singleton is still waiting on a new date and venue. However, the Board confirmed that John O’Donnell will meet Erick Ochieng in an eliminator on March 18 at London’s York Hall. Steve Goodwin is promoting that one and the vacant English title will also be on the line.

Super featherweight titlist Martin Joseph Ward defends against Maxi Hughes on March 25 in Manchester with the ‘winner to box Anthony Cacace when called upon to do so’.

Super bantamweight holder James Dickens will meet Thomas Patrick Ward in Manchester on February 25 on a Frank Warren-promoted show.

Flyweight Champion Lee Selby has been ordered to defend against Charlie Edwards, bids are due in by noon on February 8 with the contest to take place by ‘the end of May 2017’.

In Englsih title news, Ricky Hatton has won the rights to put on the showdown between his man Nathan Gorman and Dominic Akinlade for the vacant heavyweight belt, date and venue TBA. The vacant Super welterweight title will be contested by Matthew Ryan and Richard Skelton following Rick Godding’s decision to withdraw from the contest. Pat Barrett has won the right to stage the fight, which will take place on March 24 in Manchester.

Steffy Bull asked for and was granted the right to stage a voluntary defence between lightweight holder Robbie Barrett and Kevin Hooper, it will take place on March 4 at the Doncaster Dome. Lee Appleyard and Peter Cope will fight an eliminator for the same belt on the undercard of that one.

Zelfa Barrett’s decision to withdraw from a crack at the Super featherweight belt has paved the way for promoter Carl Greaves to put on Sam Bowen against Chris Conwell for the vacant title. They will vie for it on March 11 at the Harvey Hadden Sports Centre in Nottingham.

Both the Super bantam and bantamweight belts are currently vacant, but not for too much longer as Steve Goodwin has won the right to put Josh Kennedy and Michael Ramabeletsa on for the first of the two titles—it takes place on March 18 at London’s York Hall. Josh Wale and Ramesh Ahmadi will meet for the bantamweight belt on March 4 at the Doncaster Dome on Bull’s bill.
