The postponement of his Telford homecoming show has only served to fuel the hunger of undefeated Liam Davies, who has set his sights on big things for the coming year.
Now back in training and the mandatory for the English title, the super-bantamweight revealed it’s all about winning titles, moving forward and enjoying the journey with his tight-knit team.
Looking ahead he stated: “I’m mandatory for the English title and I just want to fight for that belt, it gets my name out there and then I can push on.
“I’m training for ten rounds now, I’m not going back to six, I’m not interested in that – I just want something big and I want to go for it. I want to bring a big show back to Telford to make up for what happened before.”
Emphasising the importance of his team, he added: “Sometimes when it gets tough you know that deep down the horrible hard times are horrible for everyone because we all feel the same pain, we win together we lose together, we are family really and hopefully, it will all pay off.
“That’s what motivates me to win something, all the time and effort each coach has put in, I’ll be the first from Donnington Boxing Club to win the British title and that’s the aim. I’m hoping in 2021 I get my opportunity and I’ll make the most of it.”
