World Boxing Organisation (WBO) welterweight champion Terence Crawford will take on David Avanesyan in Omaha, Nebraska on December 10th.

The news comes courtesy of ESPN’s Mike Coppinger.

Crawford secured the title with a ninth-round stoppage of Jeff Horn in 2019 and has made five successful defences since.

Avanesyan meanwhile, who bases himself in Britain with trainer Carl Greaves, has been European champion for three years and has now earned his first shot at a world title.

Talks have been ongoing in recent months to make a mega showdown and undisputed welterweight title fight between Crawford and Errol Spence Jr.

However, negotiations looked to have broken down in recent weeks and so attention appears to have turned to a defence against Avanesyan.

The fight will be shown live on BLK Prime in the US for a pay-per-view price of $39.95. BT Sport will presumably show the fight in the UK due to Avanesyan’s affiliation with Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions.
