Dillian Whyte has publicly called for a second fight with British rival Anthony Joshua in an Instagram story.

The 34-year-old Whyte responded to a Matchroom Boxing post highlighting the nine-year anniversary of the pair’s first fight with the message “let’s run it back.”

Joshua claimed the British heavyweight title with a seventh-round knockout of Whyte at the O2 Arena in December 2015.

The pair looked set to rematch in April 2019 at Wembley Stadium before talks broke down between the respective camps.

Fast-forward to 2022 which saw Joshua fail to regain the unified heavyweight titles in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Whyte meanwhile succumbed to a sixth-round defeat to Tyson Fury for the WBC version of the title in April.

‘The Body Snatcher’ Whyte returned in November with a close-fought twelve-round split-decision victory over Jermaine Franklin for which Joshua was sitting ringside.

Promoter Eddie Hearn stated in October that Whyte was the frontrunner for Joshua’s comeback fight in early 2023.
