Rotherham bred super-welterweight Junaid Bostan (4-0, 4KOs) continues to work his way up the ladder of opponents, when he features on the Leigh Wood vs Mauricio Lara fight card on the 18th of February in Nottingham.
At only 20 years old, Bostan’s ability to comfortably switch between stances, his exceptional head movement and beautifully timed combinations, allow him to stand out from the rest!
A former 2x national champion, Bostan has a successful amateur background. Under the wing of respected trainer Grant Smith at the Steel City Gym in Sheffield, there is no doubt that he is ready to continue to his form in the pros. Training alongside the likes of British super-lightweight champion Dalton Smith (13-0, 10KOs) and the IBF flyweight world champion Sunny Edwards (19-0, 4KOs) – Taking all of this into consideration, he has all of the ingredients to become a future champion himself.
Regarding coach Smith, Bostan stated his loyalty to him as a trainer, having been with him since he was just 12 years old. “I won’t have any other man in my corner!” Bostan told BBTV.
Not only has Bostan got the boxing talent, but his charisma also puts him in good stead for future success, in a sport that always welcomes a ‘character!’ For instance recently in a clip shared online, Bostan confidently asked promoter Eddie Hearn that should he win a world title, could he have a Rolex watch? Resulting in Hearn shaking on the deal on the basis that he will have probably have moved up to middleweight by then. The Yorkshireman’s confident aura in the ring, highlights that he is in no way lacking in persona!
Bostan has claimed in a more recent BBTV interview; “I don’t just wanna be a normal average boxer, I wanna be the man!”
As of yet, his professional record is perfect at 4-0, with all 4 of his wins coming by way of knock-out and he envisions that this will move to 5-0 on the 18th, with him captioning “5-0 5 KO’s soon come” on his Instagram.
No doubt Junaid Bostan is one to watch!
