Matchroom Boxing have announced four new shows tonight, including the WBO and IBF flyweight unification between Jesse Rodriguez (18-0, 11KOs) and Sunny Edwards (20-0, 4KOs) in Arizona on December 16th.

Derby’s WBO welterweight champion Sandy Ryan (6-1, 3KOs) will also take on unified champion Jessica McCaskill (12-3, 5KOs) in Orlando on September 23rd.

Big fights confirmed for Edwards and Ryan in the final quarter of 2023

Edwards most recently defended his IBF flyweight belt against Andres Campos, winning a comfortable unanimous decision at Wembley Arena in June.

The 27 year old immediately called for a showdown against Texas’ Rodriguez who claimed the WBO title versus Cristian Gonzalez four months ago.

A fractured jaw suffered in the Gonzalez fight forced the bout to be pushed to the backend of the year but the pair finally meet at the Desert Diamond Arena six days before Christmas Day.

Three months prior, recently-crowned champion Ryan looks to add the WBC and WBA welterweight titles to her WBO version against Chicago’s McCaskill in Florida.

Ryan won a wide unanimous decision over Marie Pier Houle to become WBO champion in April and promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed plans to face the American soon after.

The 38 year old McCaskill previously reigned as undisputed champion at welterweight before a move back down to super-lightweight in November last year forced her to vacate the WBO and IBF belts.

McCaskill lost comfortably to Northampton’s Chantelle Cameron that night but looks to reclaim one of her belts against former Team GB fighter Ryan next month.

The card is headlined by undefeated super-lightweights Richardson Hitchins (16-0, 7KOs) and William Zepeda (28-0, 24KOs) who hope to move one step closer to world honours at 140lbs.

Top prospect Pacheco returns in Los Angeles

Fresh off a fourth-round stoppage in Monterrey, Mexico earlier this month, Californian super-middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco (19-0, 16KOs) takes on Manuel Gallegos (19-2-1, 16KOs) on November 18th.

The 22 year old has won his last eight contests inside the distance and recently stopped Little Lever’s Jack Cullen in Liverpool in March.

The event at the YouTube Centre sees Pacheco headline in his home city of Los Angeles for the first time as a pro.

Matchroom also confirmed lightweights Angel Fierro (20-1-2, 16KOs) and Brayan Zamarripa (13-1, 4KOs) are set to headline in Tijuana, Mexico on September 15th.
