Fabio Wardley will take on David Adeleye in Saudi Arabia on October 28th as the pair clashed at a press conference in London today.
The fight will take place on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou next month.
Wardley cut after the brawl in London
Wardley (16-0, 15KOs) claimed the vacant British title with a third-round knockout of Nathan Gorman in November.
It has not yet been confirmed if the title will be on the line when he takes on the unbeaten Adeleye (12-0, 11KOs) who approached the champion before the conference began earlier today.
Words were exchanged before the latter shoved Wardley as security jumped in to separate the pair.
A member of Adeleye’s team managed to blindside Wardley however and struck him with an elbow which left a trickle of blood on his left brow.
It has not yet been confirmed if the cut will prevent the fight from taking place next month.
History between the pair
Both men came face-to-face at a Matchroom Boxing press conference in April after multiple verbal exchanges via social media.
Wardley then looked likely to face Frazer Clarke next who was entered as mandatory challenger by the British Boxing Board of Control before the latter withdrew from a scheduled purse bid at late notice.
International Boxing News first broke the news this week however that the pair would trade blows in Saudi Arabia next month as the Fury-Ngannou undercard takes shape ahead of the fight next month.
Both Fury and Ngannou also came together for the first time since the fight announcement today ahead of their ten-round encounter.
