SkySports report. Macklin did little to strengthen his world title aspirations after retaining his European belt in a bruising encounter in Liverpool.
The Birmingham fighter was dragged into a brawl for most of the contest by Ruben Varon but still claimed a unanimous 116-111, 116-111, 116-113 points victory.
