Junior Witter
Former world champion Junior Witter rolled back the years to win the British welterweight title with a unanimous points decision over Colin Lynes at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre in Sheffield on Saturday night.
Witter, 38, fighting with purple dyed hair and looking in top shape for one of his age, has won a British title in two weight division and on the night was in favour of all three judges with the final scoring 117-112, 115-114, 116-114.
It was a case of Lonsdale belt lighting striking twice for Witter against Lynes, he had defeated the champion on points in 2005, to win the British light-welterweight title. That night 7 years ago the European and Commonwealth titles were also on the line and in his next fight, Junior won the WBC light-welterweight title against DeMarcus Corley.

Kid Galahad
Kid Galahad retained his WBC International super-bantamweight title against Josh Wale, when the doctor called the fight off in round 9 after Wale sustained cuts to his eyes.

The switch hitting Galahad a product of the Ingle Gym in Sheffield, controlled the fight, and his accurate counter punching saw Wale’s eyes start to swell and graze, and by the midway point his skin had begun to split, and with lacerations around both eyes, Wale began to look on an hiding to nothing.

Wale despite the gulf in skills, was game and determined and never gave in. He had started the fight well, but Galahad was soon to get into his rhythm and got better has the fight progressed.

Referee Victor Loughlin took a long look at the cuts in the penultimate round and called the doctor onto the ring apron for a second opinion. The doctor was happy to give Wale another round, but at the end of the ninth, he advised the ref that it was the end of the fight for a the gritty Josh Wale.

Wale can be proud of his efforts, but Galahad is a big talent with big plans for the future and after the fight called out his British super-bantamweight rivals Scott Quigg, Rendall Munroe and Carl Frampton when he said; “I think I’m the top super-bantamweight in Britain if any of them want me, they can pick up the phone, I want them.”

Unbeaten Galahad now with a record of 12 wins out of 12, paid tribute to Wale’s durability, but praised his own efforts and added that one day he expects to be a great of the game.

“He’s a lot tougher than I thought he was, he took hard shots but I knew I could take him out,” said Galahad after the fight.

“I wanted to see if he had strength in his punches. I picked him off, found my range, my timing, boom.

“I was too quick, too strong and he under estimated my strength and also my inside fighting. I knew it was just a matter of time.

“Before the Jason Booth fight I was only operating at 40 percent but I showed then and now why I’m going to be great.”

Chris Eubank Jnr outpointed Harry Matthews by unanimous decision 60-54 on the referee’s scorecard. Eubank seemed to ease himself through the fight, never having to go through the gears to control the fight. Although Matthews was live and here for the win, Eubank managed to sustain his opponent. Eubank takes his record to 4 out of 4, 2 KO’s and looks like a talent learning his trade the right way.
